The Future is now

We are our own sisters' keepers

Dada Yangu advocates for underprivileged young women and girls between the ages 13-16 by providing mentorship, life skills training, menstrual hygiene education and sustainable solutions. We also address gender equality and climate change through eco-friendly initiatives, fostering a more equitable and sustainable future

How we help

Our Projects

Through these projects, we are able to help the girls keep themselves busy, learn a skill, and even channel as opportunities for them to open up and speak about what they are going through. These are also channels to meet mentors, and even adult role models. We ensure they use these programs to develop friendship with others as well.

Elimu Ni Sasa

This is an incredible program that aims to support girls who face financial barriers in accessing education. We understand that not all girls have the means to pay tuition fees, and that shouldn’t hinder their educational journey.

Pad for her

The “Pad for Her” Initiative aims to combat period poverty among young women and girls in Kilifi,Kenya. This program provides sanitary pads and menstrual education to underprivileged young women and girls, ensuring they have the necessary resources to manage their menstruation with dignity.

Crochet Academy

This is an after school and holiday program where we teach young girls the art of crochet, helping them develop valuable skills and unleash their creativity. It is also a warm and supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and express themselves through this beautiful craft.

Sisterhood

This captures the essence of sisterhood and support, as it signifies the bond between mentors and mentees.
This is a platform where experienced women serve as mentors, providing guidance, inspiration, and valuable life skills to young girls helping them navigate various aspects of life..

About DADA YANGU

Get to know us

Teenage girls between the ages of 13- 16 are at their pivotal point in their lives. The opportunities they have in life are strongly impacted by societal pressures, limited access to education, financial constraints, and a lack of support systems. These challenges can have a significant influence on their well-being, self-esteem, and opportunities for growth.

Through support, mentorship, and long term solutions, DYO hopes to help girls realize their full potential through life skills training, mentorship programs, educational support, personal development workshops, raising awareness on the importance of education and advocating for equal opportunities, challenging social norms and barriers that hold back teenage girls from reaching their full potential.
